I'm against bringing back extinct animals because there is a reason they went extinct because if they didn't then we probably wouldn't be here right now on computers or devices right now texting sending emails and all of the other things we are doing right now. So if we bring back extinct animals but what would happen if they broke lose and made other animals go extinct, like if Dolphins or kiwis went exctinct by a sabre tooth tiger or dinosaurs.
But then we would have to grow their food, which would cost a whole lot of money. My hypothesis is we could spend all that money on houses or other technology. The only good thing that would come out of this is research on them like if dinosaurs had feathers or not.
So really, it's a bad idea because something like Jurassic Park would probably happen, and it would be likely to suck away a load of money, and we would have to close it down (full circle complete). This is why I am against it, and that's why we should never De-Exctinct any animal ever.
Simon Murphy, Year 7 Clarkville School New Zealand
Well first of all Simon we can't bring back dinosaurs because we have limits in how far we can go our limit is one million years and the dinosaurs died 65.5 million years ago we would need some crazy tech to bring back the dinosaurs and also.
If the animals did break free i'm certain they would tranquilize it and take to its home plus kiwis are nocturnal sabre tooth tigers hunt during the day. All the animals will not need special resources that will cost lots of money they only died around one million years agos so they would have all the stuff they need and they would also be looked after until they are ready to go out into the wild
Simon humans have killed off hundreds of species without regret what if the next generation want to see a real elephant they could be gone over night we need a way to bring them back so they don't disapear tommomorow
I believe bringing back animals is a plus because bringing back animals from extinction will be a huge leap in genetic engineering. It would let us bring all types of animals that we have killed over the years back to life. And with genetic engineering being a lot better who know what kind of advancements it would make towards human civilization will be endless.
People will have some limits into what they can bring back only animals from one million years or less are able to be brought back. People will not be able to bring back animals like dinosaurs or anything from that far back. None of the new animals are too dangerous that they could harm civilization too much so humans are safe from being dead.
Bringing back certain extinct animals could restore some ecosystems because they have the necessary requirements to maintain an ecosystems. Then with that we will be able to bring back other animals from the dead then they can live in happiness instead of zoos.
Most people want animals back from the dead with 71.8% of people wanting them back. Bringing back some animals will put and increase in profits for zoos then we will be able to pay for proper places to keep the animals safe from harm while they reproduce to safe numbers.
Having some extinct species back will help other endangered species thrive because they will be helping drive back the animals that are killing a lot. And if a species is not doing so well we can easily clone some of them to help. And also genetically engineer them so they can fight a little better
With making new species we could learn what made them extinct in the first place and use that knowledge to protect other species related to them to keep them from going extinct and then save a lot of them.
With new animals we could develop new medicines and cures to diseases for people and animals. With this it could create a new generation of medics and new technology with all the technology these days and some new animals.
Jayden Even if we did revive extinct animals, and make new cures for diseases, healing and curing millions of people. Wouldn't that make the human race even bigger, making the world to small to fit our population. There are reasons why humans have diseases and soon enough have to die. Because the world can't handle it. Producing food would become even harder with the population growing at an alarming rate. Causing huge amounts of problems such as…
Dehydration- in 15 years, half of us will live in high water stress areas. Earth has over a billion trillion tons of water but very little is clean or safe enough to drink. Another problem is food- already parts of the world have literally dozens dying each day of hunger. Some islands are filled with garbage and the people who live there go through the trash and eat it! -Sasha
This is a very delicate topic. It has been proven that this is possible to recreate a Woolly mammoth and other animals. But this will take decades and sometimes not even be sucsseful,it's extremely expensive so is it even worth doing taking that risk? Why spend billions of dollars on trying to ring things back when this money could be going towards helping endangered animals instead.
I say we should because mammoths helped keep hills and paddocks free of non native bush and trees.Even when they have started to develop one of these animals they will have to replace some missing DNA with other animals DNA so they will not be complete replica because of the replaced missing DNA so they might not be accurate size or colour.
These following animals will be the first to come back to life.Woolly mammoth, Dodo,Tasmain tiger,Pyrenean ibex,Woolly rhino,Carolina parakeet,Brooding frog,Moa.
I say we should do this it will be like giving back what we took from the earth for some of them it was the earth that took it,but bringing back these animals could lead us closer to finding what cause them to be so vanurable in the first place. Why were they suddenly so low on population how did their population go down so fast? This is why bringing them back is a good idea it will answer all of these questions. We take risks like spending lots of money on cancer research but that never works so why not take another risk like this.So that's what I think about bringing them back. Cassie G-T
I am replying to Simon.Simon it is impossible to bring back Dinosaurs because their DNA has been gone for to long all of it has degraded and is impossible to bring back dinosaurs and things like that referring to national geographics and the international science association. Cassie G-T
You are referring to a movie Simon this has been recently been disproved and it will still never be possible reffering to national geographics has said even ones in mosquitos has been degraded. Cassie G-T Clarksville New Zealand
De-extinction is a good idea but bringing back animals from before human time would cause them to go extinct again eg: wooly mamoth megalodon ... on the other hand species like the tasmainian tiger and passenger pigeon went extinct beacause of loss of habitat or human causes they might have a chance their habitat might not be completely gone all we have to do is get a sample of the bone skin or tissue make it into a living cell and inject it into a egg or animal that is similar to that species the eggs will hatch the same animal that bred them but that animal will have the reproductive system of the extinct animal and will breed the extinct animal
De-extinction is a good thing to do because we can bring back the moa and the dodo bird so we can now what they do. I think that we should not bring back the dinosaurs because they can come back and take over the world and kill all of us.
De extinction is a resurrection of bringing extinct species back to life (cloning is a good way of doing it). It’s possible that scientist can bring extinct animals back to life with DNA that's proven, but it won't be easy and it will take decades or maybe centuries till they can exist. Scientists are bringing together two different things: Mythology (something that doesn't exist)and Science.
This will be billions of dollars to do but it's worth trying. The dinosaurs were extinct centuries ago so they can't come back but other species can, like Woolly Mammoths, Dodo Birds, Passenger Pigeon, Thylacine, Woolly Rhino and more...
If the animals do come back, the habitats and the environment will not change so it will be the same as usual with no changes in the world. But first, if they do definitely want or have DNA to bring animals back alive, they have to make a genetic version(A fake animal of it's species). It's not complete until you have a offspring of the previous extinct animal.
At the end of the day this is a huge project that will need to be looked at for years and years and need patience. This should happen because they want to bring back more animals to make more species which that equals more living which would be great. A few people I've asked says that scientists should not bring back animals but a few says yes, so do I.
Simon, I agree and disagree because having to bring back extinct species is huge money and takes up a lot of time that's worth more species, but yes you can be right about people could get a disease that can be extreme and couldn't be saved so you have a point.
I believe that it is a good and a bad thing because you can't bring back dinosaurs but you can bring back Moas which are extremely dangerous ,extremely tall and aggressive. But would not cause harm to forestry.
Would you like to see a real woolly mammoth or a Tasmanian tiger in the flesh? Well scientists have already put down five ways to do that but still pondering if it's the right thing to do. Well it only depends on what we bring back to our time.
This means there thinking about bringing back the woolly mammoth witch means they use mammoth bones and build the skeleton and make a synthetic life like sheet of skin and other parts of it's body they have scavenged to make the x-o skeleton and fill the mammoth with DNA to make the mammoth. Then they move the mammoth to the appropriate climate for the mammoth.
This will make this time historical and beloved animals can be brought back to life for instance a lion witch was on the news called Cecil loved by loads of people overseas who got shot by a hunter. This can be helpful but it depends on what we do with this power Caleb Radford.
Caleb I totally agree with you I think it would be good if we could bring back Cecil and the woolly mammoth because it definitely would make our time historical and people would be able to bring back their pets that died. - Mason
I believe that we should NOT bring extinct animals back to life. Extinct animals are long lost species that no longer exist. Although there are many reasons why they should be revived, they could have unexpected consequences!
One fact is that de-extinction intends to resurrect single, charismatic (fascinating) species, yet millions of species are at risk of extinction. Scientists estimate we’re now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the background rate, with literally dozens going extinct every day. With as many as 30 to 50 percent of all species possibly heading to extinction by mid-century, and right now we are worrying about wolly mammoths that don’t even exist and are not endangered.
Another possibility is health. When we revive extinct animals such as the dodo, Tasmanian tiger, etc, we might trigger a worldwide virus. Some extinct animals carry diseases/viruses like retroviruses and pathogens. They are a bacterium, virus, or other micro organisation that can cause disease. So letting them come back, could be a disaster,
So what if we brought back the dead? Wouldn't we just heart everyone. Since the extinction of animals was long, long ago, their habitats have wildly changed. Jungles have now become cities. Seas have now become fishing frenzy places. Letting them come back would just hurt our environment, our animals, and possibly end the human race. The circle of life would change, making us highly likely to be at the bottom of the food chain, making life miserable.
I think it would be good to have super humans in the world but I think the government wouldn't take kindly to it but I still think it would be good because their wouldn't be as much conflict and I think more criminals would be behind bars thanks to super humans. - Mason
I believe humans should have the right to bring back animals because it would be a whole different way people see animal. if we start to bring back different species more people will want to bring them back

There youst to be a giant sloth and it had claws as long as 20 inches the New Zealand giant moa was extinct by hunting it was as tall up to 8 feat waying up to 500 pounds the thylacine had a diet of kangaroos, small rodents, birds size was over 4 feat long and 75 pounds.
But there are alot of reasons to bring them back Kyle.p
Well brining extinct species back means the people that clone the extinct animals would have to get some Dna and maybe some bones or skin or Feathers to.
Which I am for it because some animals were hunted and it would be cool to bring them back like the huia.it would be cool to have extinct animals alive in the world.
it would be a big step for engineering it would be good to bring back animals that were forced by humans to extinction people would want to see what they missed when the animals were not extinct and the animals could help the land in many different ways by like they could give us natural resources that are not available to us.
De-extinction is bringing extinct species back to life. If we bring back the mammoth our children will get to see what they look like walk like smells like to. We will have to think about giving it a big enclosure to move around in. If there food did not exist we could bring it back. If they killed off plants or animals that are already here it will be a problem. This is because the other animals might eat that kind of food.
This is a very controversial issue. Just because we "could" bring something back, should we? In some causes the natural habit that animal roamed free in e.g. the Moa, does not really exist anymore. Perhaps we should settle on trying to save what we still have, those creatures on the highly endangered list. Man has made a bit of a mess of this beautiful planet.
